Content design and strategy
Billing and payments hub (2022)
I was the sole content designer on the Billing and Payments hub, which was one of the largest initiatives of the Meta FinTech billing team. The project aimed to create a simpler billing experience.
Preventing payment issues (2022)
I worked with a team of software engineers, a designer, and a data scientist to create a data-driven design that aimed to prevent future payment issues.
Payment error messages (2022)
My first project on the Meta FinTech team involved creating clearer and more actionable error messages. Data revealed that these error messages helped prevent future payment issues.
Customer service content strategy (2020)
Using design thinking principles, I worked with a team to develop a content strategy to meet the needs of internal customer service agents. This content strategy resulted in the agents finding and understanding information more efficiently.
Optimizing transactional emails (2023)
I led the content design strategy to overhaul the experience of Expedia transactional email templates, beginning with purchase confirmation emails. These email templates are used across all Expedia lines of business.
Accessibility and inclusion-focused projects
Inclusion-focused hackathon project (2020)
I competed in an internal Expedia Group hackathon with a virtual team. Through research and inclusive language guidance, we created and implemented an inclusion-themed design solution aimed at creating a more inclusive travel experience for travelers in underrepresented groups. Our project advanced to the final round of competition and placed in the top 10 out of 220 teams.
Accessible travel help articles (2020)
I combined my passion for accessibility and design to create articles that educate hotels on how to make their properties accessible for travelers with disabilities and accessibility needs. This work included user research with travelers with disabilities, secondary research, and applying content strategy guidelines. These articles were featured in Expedia Group’s external 2020 Inclusion and Diversity.
Carepoint vending machine (2021)
As part of my master’s degree in Human Centered Design and Engineering at the University of Washington, I worked with a group to design a vending machine that provides free resources and connects houseless people with medical professionals.
Other design and user research work
Compost service design project (2022)
Through my Human Centered and Design master’s program, I worked with a team to develop an end-to-end composting service. Our process involved service design techniques, including co-design, narrative prototyping, and designing a service blue print. Additionally, I developed the voice and tone for our service based on our service values.
Crime updates qualitative research (2023)
I worked with a research team at the University of Washington to investigate the impact of civilian-reported crime on people living in Seattle. We conducted this work through a two phase research project that involved user interviews and netography.
Intranet usability testing (2021)
As part of my Human Centered Design and Engineering (HCDE) master’s degree, I worked with a team to conduct usability testing on the intranet for the HCDE department at the University of Washington. The intranet houses information, policies, and resources for anyone currently in the department including, staff, faculty, and students.
Journalism and marketing
‘Langley Meets Tech’ campaign (2017)
I developed and implemented a marketing campaign for Langley Main Street Association, a local non-profit that aims to revitalize and beautify the Langley, Washington downtown. The blog posts were read by thousands of people across the world.
Legislative reporting (2017)
As a reporter at the 2017 Washington State legislative session, I wrote articles for over 100 newspapers across Washington state. My work about student houselessness was featured in the Atlantic. I received the Pioneer Award for Legislative Reporting for this work.
